Blinds & curtains · Brisbane

46 to 553 — by deleting pages, not adding them.

A Brisbane blinds and curtains retailer went from 46 organic clicks a month to 553, measured in its own Search Console with Australian traffic only. The bigger change was structural: 55 near-duplicate pages were consolidated into 17, and money pages that had almost no internal links went from 0-4 inbound links to more than 55 each.

A blinds and curtains retailer that had published plenty. The problem was that it had published the same thing many times, and every copy was competing with the others for the same search.

Google Search Console, Australian traffic only, pulled 2026-08-19. The series runs to Jul 2026, the last complete month; the current part-month is excluded rather than plotted. Impressions are deliberately not shown for this case: the desktop impression count on this site is overwhelmingly automated traffic, and quoting it would flatter the result.

What we found

Where it was starting from.

Gap 01

Authority split 6 to 30 ways

Each product had between six and thirty near-duplicate pages. Roller blinds alone had 33 URLs. Google had to choose one and kept choosing differently.

Gap 02

Money pages were orphaned

The pages meant to sell had almost no internal links pointing at them — roman blinds had zero. A blog post outranked the category page for the category’s own name.

Gap 03

Seven posts published twice

Identical titles, duplicate slugs, from a single bulk import.

Gap 04

One cluster proved the thesis

The one product line with a clear winning page produced 15 per cent of all site clicks on its own. Concentration was the variable, not content quality.

What we did

The work, in order.

  1. Consolidated 55 near-duplicate pages into 17 canonical ones
  2. 301-redirected every retired URL, flat, with no redirect chains
  3. Rewrote 120 internal links that pointed at now-redirected URLs
  4. Rebuilt the internal link structure around the money pages
  5. Removed duplicate FAQ blocks and fixed the schema on service pages

Inbound internal links, roman blinds

0 → 56Every money page was relinked; roller went 33 to 93, the curtains hub 36 to 125.
