IT services · multi-city

126 to 674, and every booking traced to its click.

A multi-city IT services business went from 126 organic clicks a month to 674, with average position improving from 22.0 to 15.9 and search terms in the top ten rising from 1,037 to 6,347. Every booking is matched back to the click that produced it, so revenue per booking is measured rather than estimated.

A multi-city IT services business. The search growth matters, but the more useful part is the measurement underneath it: this is the client where we can prove what a booking actually cost.

What we found

Where it was starting from.

Gap 01

Platform conversions were not real

The ad platform reported 58 conversions where 50 real bookings existed — about 16 per cent over, and unreliable per keyword. One keyword reported seven conversions for three real bookings.

Gap 02

Hundreds of pages earning nothing

A large blog was taking most of the clicks and producing almost no bookings, while the pages that did convert were buried.

Gap 03

Suburb pages were a doorway cluster

Hundreds of thin location pages, nearly all with zero impressions.

Gap 04

Nobody knew which device paid

A short read had suggested desktop was worthless. Over eight weeks desktop converted around 1.8 times better and cost 26 per cent less.

What we did

The work, in order.

  1. Matched every booking back to the click that produced it, end to end
  2. Pruned the index down to the pages that actually earn
  3. Retired the doorway cluster into a smaller set of real region pages
  4. Rebuilt the paid account around the keywords that produce bookings
  5. Reported real cost per booking against a known break-even

Booking attribution match rate

100%68 of 68 booking click IDs matched back to a paid click.
